Historical Facts and Fiction
I'm not going to lie, watching these videos was a jaw-dropping experience for me for two reasons. One, it confirmed what I felt in my bones about how and who actually planned and carried out these enormous feats of logistics and tactical genius. And two, throw in my own and my family's US Navy experiences and I was left doing the math — no way Douglas MacArthur or William Halsey Jr. had the "brains" for this level of complexity, and if they did, they wouldn't tell anyone. Now before the data centers light up with emails and messages from both of my followers, I have to say we need the MacArthurs and the Halseys just as much as a Nimitz, a Kurita, or a Spruance.
But...
As a 9 year old Navy brat, I was the one that read about PT-109 and wondered who planned the mission. I read everything I could about the Navy, my Dad was a Navy Radioman at the time, Cousin Rudy got his Carrier shot out from under him in WW2, so I had motivation, and I trusted the information I was reading, yet somehow knew there had to be more behind these huge operations. I looked high and low. And now in 2026, the internet and AI are making a laughing stock of that written Naval history I couldn't find.
Not surprised...
That the people that sought the microphone or the magazine cover credit, got it, regardless of whether they helped or hurt the operations. It sold copy, made names for themselves. This looks a lot like the immense pressure to create content on social media, that we see today, clearly its roots are in written history.
Our impressions and education system are specifically tuned to funnel our opinions and "facts" the way the authors version of history are written and presented. What that media wants us to believe through "news", movies and print, is a narrative, or an angle they want everyone to appreciate as much as they do.
When that doesn't work out the way the media wants (28% approval) and people have the audacity to question the "facts", and their response is to eliminate what they call disinformation, that's your sign you are dealing with the lower half of that 28%.
Conclusion:
Be diligent in what you read, know what you don't know and focus there, fill the gaps with good decent writings that tell the whole story. Use the power of AI to do the cross checking for you, you'll be glad you did.
